Opening of the new C. Bechstein Centre Vienna

The new C. Bechstein Centre Vienna at Naschmarkt has opened.

The new C. Bechstein Centre Vienna at Naschmarkt has opened: Around 130 guests admired the new premises at the opening event and experienced with Elisabeth Leonskaja, the grande dame of piano playing, Paul Gulda, the musical cross-border crosser, and Sunny Ritter, the winner of the Golden Note In 2022, three generations of pianists made the C. Bechstein concert grand piano sound wonderfully.

A collaboration between C. Bechstein Vienna and the Austrian development organization “Jugend Eine Welt” was also announced at the ceremonial opening. Particularly emotionally moving was the appearance of Chris Lohner, who introduced the organization as an honorary ambassador, which has been supporting numerous Don Bosco institutions in the Global South for 26 years. In the future, the “Sunday Brunch” will be a fixed point in the concert calendar of the C. Bechstein Centrum Vienna: Young talents from the three leading music universities in Vienna (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Music and Art Private University Vienna and the JAM MUSIC LAB - Private University for Jazz and Popular Music Vienna) will have the chance to present themselves there.

Among the around 130 invited guests were, among others, the President of the Vienna State Parliament Ernst Woller, Andreas Mailath-Pokorny, Rector of the Music and Art Private University of the City of Vienna, Ulrike Sych, Rector of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and Marcus Ratka, Rector of the Jam Music Lab – Private University for Jazz and Popular Music Vienna, but above all numerous well-known pianists such as the piano duo Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen, Lilya Zilberstein, Rolf Plagge, Christopher Hinterhuber, Jura Margulis, Jean Beers and Alex Szilasi.

With the opening of the new C. Bechstein Center on Naschmarkt, C. Bechstein is further expanding its activities in Vienna after taking over the Piano Gallery on Kaiserstrasse and the Ehrbar Saal on Mühlgasse and setting a new highlight in Vienna's musical life.
