The fabulous C. Bechstein B 212 Sterling grand piano had barely started its European tour when it started to arouse the interest of discerning international customers. This unique specimen was designed and realized by C. Bechstein Pianoforte AG in cooperation with silversmiths Robbe & Berking.

C. Bechstein Pianofortefabrik and silversmiths Robbe & Berking are two genuine manufacturers of handmade items who have specialised in making dreams come true for the last one and a half centuries. Their “silver” grand piano represents their first joint project bringing together the expertise of both companies.

During months of work, the master silversmiths from Robbe & Berking and the master piano makers from C. Bechstein took inspiration from each other’s work. The silver Robbe & Berking inlays on the grand piano reflect the light like a precious stone and provide incomparable decoration for any room. They are made from over 6 kilograms of silver. The matching grand piano stool is also finished in silver and even the soundboard of the valuable concert grand piano has been painted silver. A magnificent sound dressed in elegant attire; a feast for the eyes and ears. Every day, C. Bechstein and Robbe & Berking produce large and small masterpieces which go on to become family heirlooms.

New standards in innovative exclusivity

The best master piano makers and master silversmiths from the two companies were set the task of combining the finest materials and the most creative ideas with the aim of setting new standards in innovative exclusivity.

“Silver sets the right tone,” says Oliver Berking, who now represents the 5th generation to run this firm of silversmiths established by his great- great grandfather in Flensburg in 1874. Also synonymous with good tone quality is Carl Bechstein, whose grand pianos have been delighting the great musicians of Europe since 1853.
