Ukrainian pianist Dmytro Choni is internationally renowned for his technically flawless piano playing, striking virtuosity, clear articulation and fine sensitivity. In recent years, he has gained international attention by winning numerous high-ranking prizes and awards at international piano competitions, including Van Cliburn 2022, Leeds 2021 and Paloma O'Shea Santander 2018.

Dmytro Choni has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras, including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Phoenix Symphony, the Orquesta Sinfónica de RTVE, the Ensemble Esperanza, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, the Liechtensteiner Symphoniker, Hamburger Camerata, Schlesische Philharmonie and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de la República Dominicana. Choni has worked with conductors such as Andrew Manze, Marin Alsop and Nicholas McGegan. He is a guest at festivals such as the Kissinger Sommer, the Verbier Festival, the Beethovenfest Bonn, the Chopin Duszniki International Piano Festival, the New Ross Piano Festival, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Stars and Rising Stars Munich and MiTo Settembre Musica and performs in concert halls such as the Wigmore Hall London, Carnegie Hall New York, Salle Cortot Paris, Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Minato Mirai Hall Yokohama, Flagey Brussels, Palau de la Música, Auditorio Nacional de Música Madrid and Teatro Colón Buenos Aires. Concert highlights include piano recitals in London (Bechstein Hall), Amsterdam (Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ), Munich, Barcelona and various cities in the USA, including New York, as well as South Korea and China.

Chamber music is also an important part of his musical activity. He has already worked with the Cuarteto Quiroga, the Quartetto di Cremona and the Calidore String Quartet as well as with the violinists Josef Špaček, Rudens Turku, Jack Liebeck, Arabella Steinbacher and Mari Samuelsen, the cellist Julian Steckel, the clarinettist Sharon Kam and the violist Nils Mönkemeyer.

His debut album with 20th century works by Debussy, Ginastera, Ligeti and Prokofiev was released by Naxos in 2020. The CD received the “Supersonic Award” from Pizzicato magazine and was highly praised by the international press. For his first album for the label naïve records with works by Debussy, Liszt, Silvestrov and Liebermann, he chose a C. Bechstein grand piano.

Dmytro Choni was born in Kiev in 1993. He received his first piano lessons from Galina Zaslavets at the age of four. He later studied in Kyiv with Nina Naiditch and Prof. Yuri Kot and then completed his studies with Prof. Dr. Milana Chernyavska at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. He was also mentored by Gabriela Montero. Dmytro Choni lives in Vienna.
