The highly talented pianist Shanshan Yang is one of the most renowned young talents in China. After several international awards and successful solo concerts she gave her debut in 2013 in Germany with a concert at the Berlin Philharmonie. After attending the Music Conservatory of Shanghai, she completed her master degree at the Royal Belgian Academy of Music in Brussels. Her professors included Wu Ying and Daniel Blumenthal. In addition to teaching at the Music Conservatory of Beijing and successfully giving solo concerts she performs with her husband, tenor Wang Hongwei, with a west-eastern program of works by Chopin and contemporary works from China. Shanshan Yang has won numerous awards, including the piano competition of Excellentia International in Belgium and the piano competition André Dumortier in France as the sole winner. In 2011 she was awarded "Outstanding Instructor" by the committee of the Horowitz Piano Competition due to the outstanding achievements of her students. In the same year she was invited as jury-member to the CCTV television competition for piano and violin.
