Roman Lopatynskyi was born in Kiev in 1993 and started to play the piano at the age of five. He studied at the Ukrainian National Academy of Music in Kiev and under Boris Petrushansky at the International Piano Academy in Como. He has received awards and prizes from more the 20 national and international piano competitions – among them a Third Prize at the 2015 Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Bozen – and is considered to be among the most successful Ukranian pianists of his generation.
Lopatynskyi has been invited to renowned festivals and concert halls such as the Ginza Hall in Tokyo, the Mariinsky International Piano Festival in St Petersburg and the Newport Festival in the USA. As a soloist, he regularly performs with the most important Ukranian orchestras. International performances include concerts with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken and ther Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
