“The C. Bechstein concert grand enables me to travel wherever I want in diverse and captivating musical universes.”
Julia Kadel
Julia Kadel was born in Berlin-Kreuzberg in 1986. She began playing the piano at the age of seven and, after eight years of classical training, discovered a passion for jazz. After obtaining her “Abitur” and a preliminary psychologist diploma at Humboldt University of Berlin, she decided to focus on music and started studying jazz piano at Dresden’s Carl Maria von Weber Conservatory in 2009, which enabled her to participate in numerous projects as a pianist, composer and arranger.
In the spring of 2013, she received a one-year grant from her college and, together with the Julia Kadel Trio, won the HfM-Jazzpreis awarded by the Saarland Conservatory the following fall. In 2014, Julia Kadel and her trio recorded their first CD entitled Im Vertrauen, which was released on the label Blue Note/Universal Music. The following year, she was nominated for the Echo Jazz prize in two categories (Newcomer of the Year and Instrumentalist of the Year) and performed with her trio at Jazzahead! – the largest jazz fair in Germany.
In 2016, the Julia Kadel Trio embarked on a tour and has recorded their second CD – on a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand (Blue Note/Universal Music).
