Jae-Won Cheung, born 1980 in South Korea, studied at the Seoul National University and continued her education as of 2000 at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Hans Leygraf. After completion "with excellence", she shifted to „Accademia Pianistica Incontri con Maestro“ in Imola, where she studied with Boris Petrushansky. Thereafter, she perfected her piano playing in Hanover in the class of Matti Raekallio. Jae-Won Cheung won first prize at the 1997 „Joanna Hodges International Competition“ (USA) and second prize at the 2002 „International Mozart Competion“ in Salzburg. In 2003, she secured first prize at the Grieg Competition in Oslo. In 2010, she won second prize at the C. Bechstsein University Competition Hanover. Jae-Won Cheung has been invited to numerous concerts (as well as with orchestras), appeared at famous festivals, played among others in Carnegie Weill Hall in New York, Skriabin Museum in Moscow and in the Grieg Museum concert series in Troldhausen.
