Born in Latvia in 1984, Andrejs Osokins began playing the piano at the age of five and gave his first solo recital at the age of fourteen. After graduating from the Latvian Academy of Music, he moved to London and began his studies at Trinity College of Music, where he received a Licenciate and a Fellowship diploma. He also won the Trinity College Music Competition for his performance of a Mozart concerto. In September 2008, he joined the Royal Academy of Music, studying under the guidance of Hamish Milne, and obtained Master of Arts in Performance in July 2011.
Thanks to his talent and intelligence, he was awarded numerous prizes (Lillian Davies Prize, Christian Carpenter Piano Recital Prize, First Prize at the Beethoven Intercollegiate Piano Competition and Riga’s J. Vitols Competition). Particularly worth a mention is also the Liela Muzikas Balva (main Latvian music prize, 2009) and the Audience Award he won in April 2015 at the 5th Internationaler Deutscher Pianistenpreis organized by International Piano Forum.
Andrejs Osokins has performed at famous concert venues in Berlin (Philharmonie), London (Wigmore Hall, Westminster Cathedral, St-Martin-in-the-Fields), Birmingham (Symphony Hall), Milan (Auditorium LaVerdi), Brussels (Opéra national de La Monnaie), Frankfurt (Alte Oper), Munich (Gasteig), Riga (Great Guild Hall) and Moscow (Rachmaninoff Hall), playing with great orchestras (Orchestre National de Belgique, conductor: Marin Alsop; Hallé Orchestra, conductor: Sir Mark Elder; Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, conductor: Darrell Ang; London Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor: James Judd; Latvijas Nacionālais Simfoniskais Orķestris, conductor: Yuri Simonov; Sinfonietta Riga Orchestra, conductor: Normunds Šnē; and Kremerata Baltica).
