The Chopin festival in the Czech town of Mariánské Lázně is one of the most prestigious classical music festivals. This year the pianists could play on a C. Bechstein concert grand piano D 282 or on a W.Hoffmann Professional P 206.

The Piano Duo Sivan Silver and Gil Garburg will be on tour with two C. Bechstein Grand Pianos D 282 in Saxony from february 27th until march 15th. The renowned Duo will perform together with the Neue Lausitzer Philharmonie, leaded by the general music director Andrea Sanguineti, Bohuslav Martinů's concert for two pianos and orchestra.
Happy Winners at the First Carl Bechstein Competition
In November 2014, the Carl Bechstein Foundation awarded prizes worth over €10,000 at the winners’ concert of the first Carl Bechstein Competition for young pianists, held in the auditorium of Britz Manor in Berlin-Neukölln. Forty-three piano duos from all over Germany competed in the foundation’s first competition. The pianos for the competition were provided by C. Bechstein Pianofortefabrik AG.
Magazine Music Trades acknowledges C. Bechstein AG
C. Bechstein AG ranks among the world’s most modern and successful piano manufacturers, as the American magazine Music Trades states in its latest issue. While several great traditional brands have been forced to close down or fight for survival in recent years, C. Bechstein has made annual profits of 2.5 millions of euros and is now resting on a sound financial base thanks to a sufficient flow of equity capital.
Denys Proshayev at the Konzerthaus Berlin
Last weekend, Denys Proshayev performed on a C. Bechstein grand piano D 282 at the Konzerthaus Berlin. The pianist played the piano concerto No. 1 op. 35 by Dmitri Schostakowitch and the concert for piano and string orchestra by Alfred Schnittke with Gábor Boldoczki (trumpet) and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin (conducted by Osmo Vänskä).
András Schiff at C. Bechstein Center Berlin
Recently, the great pianist András Schiff followed our invitation to the C. Bechstein Center in Berlin in order to try out three different C. Bechstein concert grands D 282 - which resulted in a marvellous little “concert”. The master was delighted by the evolution of Bechstein´s instruments over the last 10 years and he said that he might consider to perform on a D 282 in future concerts.
New concert grand for the Philharmonie Berlin
The Philharmonie Berlin recieves a new C. Bechstein grand piano D 282: Pianist Cedric Péscia and concert technician Thomas Hübsch, visited the C. Bechstein Centrum Berlin and selected the new instrument out of four grand pianos. They unanimously chose number 204629. The experts praised the wonderful mechanic and the unique Bechstein sound.
Festive concert with Bechstein in China
Bechstein´s growing popularity in China manifests itself by a recent event in Bejing: At the official national day concert, pianist Wu Muye played the celebration composition “The Founder” on a C. Bechstein concert grand piano. The event was broadcasted live by the national television.
C. Bechstein concert grand to celebrate company anniversary
Bert Kirsten, manager of Piano Salon Dresden, probably gave himself the best present when he purchased a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand to mark his company’s twenty-fifth anniversary. The precious instrument made its debut during a celebration when Professor Detlef Kaiser played works by Scarlatti, Schubert and (for his encore) Liszt.
Master piano-makers in Bielefeld and Osnabrück

Carl Bechstein Foundation supports piano-learning
Piano-playing is becoming increasingly popular among Berlin children after the Carl Bechstein Foundation donated thirty-five instruments to schools in the German capital last year – and more will be delivered in the next weeks. Promoting piano-playing is the aim of the fledgling foundation, which is eventually looking to expand its school project to the whole of Germany.

"Fête de la Musique" with C. Bechstein Hanover
The "Fête de la Musique" - a global music festival for international understanding and tolerance - attracted around 150,000 visitors to meet in the city of Hanover, 30,000 guests more than in the prior year. More than a thousand musicians performed at 36 different venues (including many public places) in the capital of Lower Saxony. The C. Bechstein Center Hanover participated in the festival with a wonderful C. Bechstein grand piano B 212, which delighted the audience in the Galerie Luise with a wide musical spectrum from classical music to jazz. Both musicians and audiences were highly impressed.
It’s all about the sound
On 16 April 2014, C. Bechstein Pianofortefabrik welcomed selected piano-makers and concert technicians to a training session entitled "It’s all about the sound". The organisers, "Bund Deutscher Klavierbauer e.V." business association, put on similar events every year, offering professionals a rare opportunity to improve their skills under expert instructions.
Bechstein in London - A success story
Tight links have existed between Bechstein and London since 1849. In that year, Carl Bechstein, the company founder, visited the British capital city for first time to get an overview of the English art of pianomaking. The recent extension of Markson Pianos, a famous London Bechstein dealer, is an occasion to look back at this great history.

Piano competition for children and youth
The Carl Bechstein Foundation announces the first piano competition for children and youths. To encourage young people to make music together, duos can also register. The event will be held from 14 to 16 November 2014 in the concert hall of Britz manor in Berlin-Neukölln. Only young musicians living in Germany are eligible to compete.

Carl Bechstein founded his first piano workshop at Behrenstrasse 56 in Berlin on 1 October 1853. This date marks the beginning of a long success story, especially among great composers. Today, Bechstein is Europe’s most successful pianomaker.
Concorso Pianistico Internazionale “Roma”
C. Bechstein and Vittorio Fabbrini Pianoforti were the partners of the 23th Concorso Pianistico Internazionale “Roma” held in November 2013. This piano competition, organized by the Chopin Association, awards the winners with various prizes, including the medal of the President of the Italian Republic, and is placed under the patronage of the most important Italian cultural institutions. The jury members are eminent music performers, teachers and journalists coming from Italy and abroad.
Concert grand pianos in demand all over the world
Carl Bechstein was already selling his instruments the world over and the wonderful C. Bechstein sound was in great demand throughout Europe (including Russia), America and Asia as early as the 19th century. Just like yesterday, C. Bechstein concert grand pianos are sold to academies and concert halls all over the world today.
A red-letter day
After working for C. Bechstein for 39 years , Naoki Yamauchi retired today. He worked as chief voicer of C. Bechstein grand pianos and thus formed the unique sound of the C. Bechstein grands then and now. Nearly 40 years working for Bechstein - that is around 50000 upright and grand pianos refined through his gifted hands and ears and his intricate sense of musical noblesse.
Almost 40 years Bechstein - that is also hundreds of pianists and music lovers inspired by his work. The photo shows Naoki Yamauchi together with CEO Karl Schulze with and for whom he has worked since 1986. More good news is that Naoki Yamauchi will continue working for C. Bechstein as a freelancer.

El Bacha Recorded Beethoven's Piano Sonatas on Bechstein
A crowning achievement: Abdel Rahman El Bacha records Beethoven’s complete piano sonatas. The internationally acclaimed pianist opted for a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand for the recordings as it “marries the best of the Bechstein tradition with a distinct power and balance in the sound”.
Carl Bechstein Foundation encourages children
The Carl Bechstein Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded by two companies (C. Bechstein Pianofortefabrik AG and Kuthe GmbH, represented by Stefan Freymuth) and two private benefactors (Berenice Küpper and Karl Schulze). Its aim is to promote piano music on a broad scale. The Foundation especially focuses on children and young people by delivering pianos to primary schools free of charge and supporting prize-winners of the Jugend musiziert competition. It is also planning to hold a duo competition for children and young people next year in Berlin. More information is available on the Foundation website (in German and English).
Shani Diluka On Bechstein Tour
In October 2013 Shani Diluka tours Germany in cooperation with C. Bechstein. Stops are Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Berlin, Rostock, and Hamburg. The acclaimed pianist will perform works by Schumann, Beethoven and Schubert. Thereby Diluka also presents excerpts from the program of her new CD that was recorded on a C. Bechstein concert grand D 282 for the label Mirare.
A happy day for Nicole Müller in Cologne (Germany). She won the first prize of the C. Bechstein Piano Quiz sweepstake. 2.500 participants from over 20 countries took the challenge. Yesterday the strong men of Piano Express delivered the W.Hoffmann upright piano V 112. Mrs. Müller plays the piano since two years and was very happy to receive her first own piano. The second prize (piano bench) won a young man from Lyon (France), the third prize (five Bechstein compact discs) a young lady from Tokyo (Japan).
Bechstein at Wigmore Hall II
As part of the Fauré Project at London’s Wigmore Hall, formerly Bechstein Hall, some of France’s best living musicians — Nicholas Angelich and Michel Dalberto (piano), Renaud Capuçon (violin), Gautier Capuçon (cello) and Gérard Caussé (viola) — gather around a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano to play selected works by Gabriel Fauré.
Dalberto and Bechstein on Tour
Michel Dalberto, accompanied by Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, will play works by Fauré in Bensheim, Essen, Birmingham, London and Bonn. The fourth member of the tour, which begins in late April 2013, will be a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand, under the care of the Belgian concert technician Denijs de Winter.
C. Bechstein Gleams Golden
C. Bechstein celebrates its 160th anniversary with a unique achievement: a luxurious, sumptuously ornamented instrument made by master craftsmen and artists using the most exquisite materials. C. Bechstein CEO Karl Schulze presented the C. Bechstein grand piano Louis XV at a press conference in Berlin. Pianist Dudana Mazmanishvili performed on the piano works by Mozart and Chopin.

Bechstein at the Wigmore Hall
Gérard Caussé (viola) and Michel Dalberto (C. Bechstein D 280 concert grand) performed works by Weber, Brahms and Berlioz/Liszt at the Wigmore Hall. The magnificent Wigmore Hall was built by Bechstein in 1901. After the expropriation of the First World War, the Concert Hall is called Wigmore Hall.

Bechstein Successful in La Roque d’Anthéron
François-René Duchâble, Jean Paul Pennetier, Claire-Marie Le Guay, Claire Désert, Shani Diluka – Once again, renowned pianists were playing Bechstein pianos, this time at the 32nd International Piano Festival in La Roque d’Anthéron. The highlight of the festival was a concert, captured live by Arte television, of the two Brahms piano concertos played on Bechstein.

International Music Fair 2012
All the main Bechstein dealers from Germany and abroad came to Frankfurt’s Bechstein Center while visiting the 2012 International Music Fair. The Center’s elegant atmosphere and the excellence of the new models exhibited prompted them to order, so that the Bechstein order books are filled. Even the competition came to visit... and expressed their compliments. By the way: Bechstein sold a great number of grand pianos in 2011 and the upwards trend continues this year. There is also a growing demand for individual finishes, like the C. Bechstein grand in rosewood with chrome plate and hinges, for example.
New catalogue brings C. Bechstein legend to light
The new C. Bechstein catalogue, titled The Sound of Excellence, is the first publication to show portraits of the team that makes the German brand so successful. Master Class with Dimitri Bashkirov
Dimitri Bashkirov, one of the best and most famous piano professors worldwide, will give a master class from April 16th to 20th in Berlin. The Studio Niculescu will arrange the master class in cooperation with the C. Bechstein Pianofortefabrik AG. More than 20 young pianists applied for the master class. Professor Bashkirov will select seven active participants on April 16. Dimitri Bashkirov and all activ participants of the master class will perform in the closing concert, to take place on April 20 in the stilwerk Berlin as part of C. Bechstein's Piano Concert Series 2012.
Bechstein donates a piano
On the occasion of “Music China” (International Exhibition for Musical Instruments) in Shanghai, Bechstein arranged it’s first large media conference. The highlight of the event was Bechstein’s donation of a upright piano to the Shanghai QingCongquan Training Center for Children with Special Needs.
David Theodor Schmidt on tour in the Bechstein Centers
Süddeutsche Zeitung described him as “the new darling of all piano aficionados”, while Fono Forum dubbed him “Star of the month” after his first Bechstein CD. David Theodor Schmidt now releases a second album entitled Wohin? — once again on a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand. The young pianist is to give five concerts featuring works by Bach, Schumann and Schubert/Liszt (see dates under Scheduled concerts).

C. Bechstein Hochschulwettbewerb für Klavier Baden-Württemberg 2011
Young Sun Jin has been awarded First Prize at the third C. Bechstein Baden-Württemberg Conservatory Competition for Piano. A student both of solo piano at Trossingen conservatory and of chamber music at Stuttgart conservatory, Young Sun gave an outstandingly colourful interpretation of the first volume of Claude Debussy’s Images at the winners’ concert held at Trossingen State Conservatory.
