Tight links have existed between Bechstein and London since 1849. In that year, Carl Bechstein, the company founder, visited the British capital city for first time to get an overview of the English art of pianomaking. The recent extension of Markson Pianos, a famous London Bechstein dealer, is an occasion to look back at this great history.

A red-letter day

After working for C. Bechstein for 39 years , Naoki Yamauchi retired today. He worked as chief voicer of C. Bechstein grand pianos and thus formed the unique sound of the C. Bechstein grands then and now. Nearly 40 years working for Bechstein - that is around 50000 upright and grand pianos refined through his gifted hands and ears and his intricate sense of musical noblesse.
Almost 40 years Bechstein - that is also hundreds of pianists and music lovers inspired by his work. The photo shows Naoki Yamauchi together with CEO Karl Schulze with and for whom he has worked since 1986. More good news is that Naoki Yamauchi will continue working for C. Bechstein as a freelancer.
