Severin von Eckardstein
Severin von Echardstein, born 1978 in Düsseldorf, received his first lessons in the age of 6. He studied under professors Barbara Szczepanska, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Klaus Hellwig in Düsseldorf, Hanover and Berlin. Further ideas he received at the International Piano Academy Lake Como in Italy.
Severin von Eckardstein won prizes at numerous national and international competitions like the "Ferrucio Busoni International Piano Competition" (1998), ARD Competition in Munich (1999) and "Leeds International Piano Competition" (2000). His greatest success: In June 2003 Severin von Eckardstein won the first prize at the highly prestigious international Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.
Since then he is playing worldwide and participates regularly at music festivals, for example at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr or in La Roque d'Antéron (France).
His recordings attracted wide interest. He recorded his CD "The Nightwind" with works by Schubert, Debussy and Medtner on a C. Bechstein concert grand piano D-280 in the Mercatorhalle Duisburg in April 2012.
