Abdel Rahman El Bacha
Abdel Rahman El Bacha, born 1958 in Beirut, played publicly at the age of 10 Bach's D-Minor Concerto. He studied at the Paris Conservatory, which he left in 1977 decorated with four first prizes.
In 1978 he won the Reine Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. As a result of that his international career unfolded. In 1981 El Bacha acquired French citizenship. In the 1993/1994 season he played all of Beethoven's sonatas in Berlin. Abdel Rahman El Bacha achieved additional reknown through his great CD projects, for example his recording of all Chopin's solo piano compositions for the Forlane label. Abdel Rahman El Bacha teaches at Queen Elisabeth College in Brussels. In an interview he said about Bechstein: "I have always loved Bechstein for its intimacy, subtle tones, singing sound..."
