Evgeni Bozhanov

Evgeni Bozhanov, born 1984 in Bulgaria, received at the age of 6 his first piano instruction at the special school for music for especially talented children.

In 1996/97, he won two first prizes in the national Svetoslav Obretenov and Dimitar Nenov competitions, first prize and two special prizes at the 1999 International Frederic Chopin Competition in Varna (Bulgaria) and first prize at the 2000 Jeunesses Musicales competition in Romania. He studied with Boris Bloch in Essen and was honored in 2002 with that city's Folkwang Prize. Later he studied with Georg Friedrich Schenck in Düsseldorf. In 2006 he won first prize at the 1st International Carl Bechstein Ruhr Piano Competition, first prize in the 2008 Alessandro Casagrande Competition in Terni (Italy) and second prize at the 2008 Sviatoslav Richter Competition in Moscow. He was one of the finalists at the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He was awarded second prize at the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and in the same year fourth prize at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw.Today, Evgeni Bozhanov plays concerts in well-known halls worldwide and at festivals, such as the Ruhr Piano Festival.
