Icelandic pianist Nína Margrét Grímsdóttir plays works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Chopin. The concert is a cooperation with C. Bechstein and the Embassy of Iceland and will take place at Schloss Britz in Berlin.

Nína Margrét Grímsdóttir has established a fine reputation as a performing and recording soloist and chamber musician as well. She has performed in Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan and China. She has recorded four CDs for Naxos, BIS and Skref, which have attracted warm praise in the Icelandic as well as in international media. In 2012 she has been re-invited to give concerts in Italy and China.

Her most recent release on Naxos includes a world premiere recording of selected works by Iceland’s renowned composer Sveinbjörn Sveinbjörnsson, which received excellent reviews.

Nína Margrét Grímsdóttir gives master classes and lecture-recitals regularly. She holds a D.M.A. performance degree from the City University of New York´s Graduate Center. Her doctoral dissertation is a study of the piano works of composer Páll Ísólfsson. She is a graduate of the soloist division of the Reykjavík College of Music´s class of 1985.

Nína Margrét is on the piano and chamber music faculty at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, the Reykjavík College of Music and the Kópavogur School of Music, and is also artistic director of the concert series “Lunchtime Classics” at Gerðuberg. Throughout her career she has actively promoted Icelandic music.
