Luiza Borac plays works by Dinu Lipatti

Already famous for her interpretations of works by George Enescu, the Romanian pianist Luiza Borac recently recorded a double CD (Avie AV 2271) with works by another Romanian artist, Dinu Lipatti (1917–1950). Although acclaimed as a legendary pianist, Lipatti is widely unrecognised as a composer. On his untimely death, he left a multifaceted work, partly rooted in Romanticism, but also distinctively expressive. In the January 2013 edition of Kultur Spiegel, Johannes Satzwedel highly praised Borac’s new CD and wrote, “She also selected her instrument with great care, choosing a Bechstein grand piano, Lipatti’s favourite brand.”
