Recital with Fumiharu Sumitomo

This CD was recorded live on 28 April 2007 at the Cultural Centre in Tokyo on a C. Bechstein concert grand. The program of this evening included Mozart’s Sonata in F Major (KV 332), Beethoven’s Appasionata, and the Italian Year from Liszt’s Années de pélerinage. For encores, Sumitomo played Liszt’s transcription of Schubert’s Ave Maria, Liszt’s Liebestraum No. 3, and Salut d’Amour (op. 12) by Edward William Elgar.

Born in 1969, Sumitomo studied under Dang Thai Son and the French pianist and composer Henriette Puig-Roget. He is the winner of numerous competitions in Japan, and is considered one of the leading Japanese pianists of his generation.
